Understanding The Causes Of Obesity In Children

It is no secret that as a nation struggling with our weight. The birth of fast food - as well as processed and packaged foods, and a shift to a more sedentary lifestyle has led to a national battle of the Bulge. As adults, we struggle with our eating habits and exercise, to prevent various diseases associated with obesity. But when the obesity, which exists in a child, there is a greater responsibility to change lifestyles and avoid the possibility of the disease at a young age. But to make changes, you must first understand the causes of obesity in children. Childhood obesity is defined by a rate of more than 25 percent body fat in men and the percentage of an organization of more than 32 percent fat in young people aged 6-11. The causes of obesity in children are varied and focus mainly on lifestyle and genetics. Obviously, if there is a medical reason for the uncontrollable weight gain in a child - as a problem with your thyroid - then these elements can be treated medically. Often, with proper medication, the weight can be controlled and the limits of good health. Also, genetics may play a role in susceptibility to weight gain. If the child's parents and other family members struggle with obesity is likely that the child will also have similar trends. But genetics only gives us an idea of what we face, weight control is still a matter of lifestyle change. Some of the most common causes of childhood obesity include a poor diet - including unhealthy choices and the portions are too big - and a sedentary lifestyle, which includes very little exercise or play. Unfortunately these lifestyle issues are a direct result of modern society that we live in a society where children play computer games and watching TV instead of playing outdoors and a society in which foods have replaced natural foods convenience. Addressing these causes of obesity in children requires attention to these issues, lifestyles and make changes when the child is young enough to ingrain these new habits into their lives. Limit TV and playing team sports and promote physical exercise and physical play is the first step. The step is to minimize the other treaties, high-fat foods and instead to focus on whole, natural foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean protein. In addition, soft drinks and fruit juices sugar must be replaced immediately with water or skim milk. Obviously, these changes are not easy to do. If they were then adults do not have weight problems to deal with. But if we can actively address the causes of obesity in children, while children are still young, then we can help you make the changes needed to guarantee a long and healthy life.

Activity + Poor Food Choices = Non Healthy Lifestyle

One of the major misconceptions that people have today is what constitutes a healthy lifestyle. Just because the exercise does not mean they are healthy. I've heard too often, oh, I can not eat because then the work of 30 or 40 minutes on the treadmill, jogging, walking, (fill in the blank with the exercise of the option). NO, NO, NO! Once in a transgression, but are one thing, but if you want to be in good health, we must eat healthy and exercise, the two go together. Now think about this, if one thinks this way as an adult, what he is teaching his children. Yes, that's okay to eat junk food while they are active. Not only that, so many parents, they say, so my kids eat all that, but have no weight, so it's okay. NO NO! While on the surface, I think you are doing serious harm to both your body and baby. Think high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Remember the old saying people "You are what you eat" applies here. We all carry what we learn from our childhood in our lives as adults. We are laying the groundwork here for a duration of eating poorly for your child. Do you really want to do this? No, I do not think so. Therefore, we must lead by example and start eating healthy and remain active. Now, most children who work do so through after school or organized sports activities that interest them. But what happens when you get older, when such activities are no longer a part of his life. You got it, because sedentary behavior has not provided the role model you need for a healthy lifestyle. You must give them more options than just sporting activities: walking, jogging, horseback riding, jumping rope, aerobics to name a few. And "one of their responsibilities as parents teach their children to eat healthily and the importance of the work only as a child, but when they reach adulthood. Then you should be a good model. We've talked in other articles, take stairs instead of the elevator, walk to and from the bottom of the carpark. Joining a gym or sports equipment (bikes, trampolines, DVDs) at home. One of the best things for a child to see their mom or dad to watch a video or working on a piece of sports equipment and sought to emulate them. What a perfect opportunity to teach dance, run, jump rope so they can do something with you. Next make sure you have to be active in the planning and preparing meals. Let them give their contribution. Take time to talk to them about the foods they are doing and you're eating. And please do not tell me you do not have the time, what time or any honestly, why not have children! Yes, we want our children to be active and involved. However, an important caveat is to limit the number of activities with the children involved. Too many children today join everything to please their parents and while they last! Realistic with your time as you would your own. Be sure to emphasize your child not to participate in everything. The emphasis that if they also will be involved in one or more activities and is not suitable for that particular group. Talking to them downtime. Make sure you know it's okay to relax. We need balance in our lives and the only way to make sure we do everything in moderation, and have free time for ourselves. Resting restores the balance that is so important for a healthy life. So let's start today to show our children that healthy eating + Activity = Healthy Lifestyle! Copyright 2005 companies deflowered

Turn Off the Tube and Watch the Pounds Melt Away

Television is the most popular form of American entertainment. Every night, millions of viewers tune in to catch an episode of their favorite legislation, and presents, order, game show, comedy o. And the story of love affair with television shows no signs of slowing down soon. The screens are becoming more reality shows multiply, and television has quickly become the main source of information for the average American. But television also has its downside. Has been associated with reading problems in children, attention deficit disorder, and crime. It's been called the final time wasted - a little window intermittent aesthetic or literary. Now some research suggests that television can also cause weight gain in children. A study at Stanford University a few years ago showed that children who reduced the amount of time spent watching television were thinner than those who reduced their viewing time. Given the fact that obesity among youth is increasing, while the tube is a significant problem for public health. There is evidence that children who are overweight are at increased risk of heart disease and hypertension. Therefore, anything that promotes weight gain should be removed from the lives of children - and television certainly falls into this category. For most children, watching television involves more than just a cartoon vision. Media playback video games, watch music, video, navigation and channel in general. It is estimated that the average American watches television for four hours a day - a great number by any measurement of dependence. Television for children may be difficult to break, given the fact that television is such an important part of American culture. There are other reasons why television may promote obesity. Children's programming is filled with ads promoting sugary cereals and candy. There is evidence that children are heavily influenced by television advertising, therefore, are much more likely to fall into the sweet, after watching television one Saturday morning. Since freedom of expression makes it difficult to ban adverts for food is not nutritious, it is for parents to supervise their children watch television. In addition, parents should stay away from sugary cereal aisle shopping. Another reason that television is linked to obesity and because it promotes inactivity. Many people watch television while lounging on a sofa bed or futon. You can burn some calories in the prone position. Moreover, the fact that they are watching TV means you do not engage in physical activities such as exercise. Television promotes a sedentary lifestyle leading to extra weight gain. But how to fight effectively against television? Some families have launched their television sets in the final set of challenges. If you are not ready to make a drastic decision, it may be desirable to limit the time of his family watching an hour of each day. Another idea is to maintain a "no TV" The night they encourage children to sports, games and other activities. Forcing children to plan their point of view may be a more effective way. In this way, do not waste precious time cruising through the TV channels. It is true that television can not assume responsibility for all of childhood obesity. However, medical research has proven to be a contributing factor. There are also indications that excessive computer use can also contribute to weight gain. In fact, this could be the biggest health problem for the future, since many children are doing their research online and write in their interaction with computer keyboards. As a parent, to ensure that their children are a healthy weight, participate actively in their lives. Monitor not only what children are watching us, but also what they eat. Encourage healthy snacks, if possible, and discourage eating while watching television. Require your children to eat at the dinner table, instead of watching television can also be an important step. Finally, participation in weight reduction program for their children is key to ensure that a healthy life.
